vadsø, kjeldsenbruket, varanger museum

Kjeldsenbruket is a former fish factory, store and dwelling-houses on Ekkerøy, an old fishing village 12 km east of Vadsø. In fact, Kjeldsen Works, as it was called, is probably the only example of pre-war fish factory left in Finnmark. It has a quay, warehouse, cod-liver oil plant, outhouses and gutting shed. The storefront dates back to 1946, with the adjoining dwellings.

You can visit Kjeldsenbruket in the summer where you’ll find a café and store selling authentic goods from the 1940s to 1960s.
