Vadsøya Culture Park
Vadsøya Culture Park opened in 1997 as part of the Fotefar Mot Nord (Footprints in North) Project. Vadsøya Island has been called one of the best preserved medieval settlements in Norway. As such, it boasts a wealth of ancient, but also modern cultural heritage, shaped by the prevailing winds and weather on the north eastern beaches well before the town of Vadsø existed. One unmistakable landmark is an historic airship mast, together with relics from the war, along a 1.8 km heritage trail where you’ll also encounter the island’s abundant birdlife.
